Standard American Bully

To create the American Bully, the American Staffordshire Terrier and American Pit Bull Terrier were crossed with a variety of bulldog-type dogs. Their rugged appearance does not detract from their ability to be caring and affectionate companions.

Size and Life Span

Size: 17″ to 20″ at the withers for males.

At the withers, females measure from 16″ to 19″.

The average lifespan is 10–12 years.

Attributes

First, the Standard Bully was made in the 1990s to be both a pet and a show dog for the American Pit Bull Terrier.

In terms of official ABKC standards, the following stand out

  • Giving the appearance of great strength while not overdoing it;
  • Even if the cheek muscles are strong and the skull is massive, the broad and heavy head must be in proportion to the body.
  • Intricately carved jaws
  • Oval or almond-shaped eyes are situated low on the skull and are spaced widely apart. Only pinkish-red (albino) and blue (or lack of pigmentation) are not acceptable for a dog. Bulging eyes are a flaw, whereas round eyes are an embarrassment.
  • A muzzle that is neither too long nor too short. muscular neck, slightly arched shoulders, and a straight line from the muzzle to the nose.
  • It’s fantastic with kids because it is patient and doesn’t bite or snap.

The standard bully is devoted to those who are close to him, especially if they are also close to his family or friends. Even though it has a gruff exterior, it is a very social animal that has no problem interacting with people, even strangers. A lot of dogs and people act defensively, but this should not be overstated.

As a result, they have a greater tolerance for discomfort than most people. Bullies, on the other hand, may not exhibit any evidence of being hurt and may be able to bear the pain in silence. If the dog isn’t discovered in time, this can be fatal.
